“We have to know the children’s interest and develop their talents”, this is what a SPED Volunteers told me when I once visit a SPED School in Dagupan City, Pangasinan. I am a volunteer of CFF for several years and I also knew this things, but I didn’t knew how to apply. We always end up forcing them to participate in harsh dancing practices. The result, some of them shows no interest at the time of the performance, which affected the whole group.

3 weeks ago, I joined a YMCA youth gathering somewhere in Rizal. I noticed that most of them has no similar talent. You cannot make a choral group, dance group, or any group performance. Which made me realized that this individual only became a group because of YMCA. They have interest regarding YMCA, which made them gather and form into a group.

I went back to CFF and asked the children what they want to do, as expected, they are like a kid’s version of the youth in the YMCA gathering. I talked with a house parent and told him that I would like to enhance their dancing skills because I noticed their interest and passion for dancing.

I announced that there will be a dance practice, anyone can join, they are not force to participate. Almost 70% came to participate, which also boosts my spirit. We started with ‘Jai ho’ by A.R. Rahman, everybody practiced and they are really enjoying and having fun. And so. I announced that only 6 members will be chosen and we will have an audition on who will be the members. Of course, we will provide a uniform for them which is sponsored by yours truly.

We will be practicing a lot and looking forward to become a dance group that could perform for charity in the future. Of course, this is also for the to build their confidence in front of people and to have socialization with others. We look forward for your support to these children! Thank you.
